Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the BibleRoute website, the BibleRoute backend, and the BibleRoute iOS app.
BibleRoute helps you read Scripture, create reading routes, take notes, mark highlights, track progress, and use optional AI features with Theo.
Website, Hosting, and Technical Access Data
The website and backend are hosted on Vercel. When you visit the website or send backend requests, technical access data may be processed to provide the service, protect it, and investigate errors.
This may include IP address, time, URL or route, HTTP method, response status, referrer, user agent, request ID, and security-related event data.
Local App Data
The app stores Bible notes, highlights, reading plans, progress, settings, onboarding answers, and Theo chat history primarily on your device, for example using SwiftData.
If you export or import a backup, you decide where that backup file is stored or shared.
AI Features with Theo
For AI features, the app may send requests to the BibleRoute backend. Depending on the feature, this may include the route prompt, daily reading time, translation, voluntary profile hints, current chat messages, selected Bible text, reference title, and questions.
The backend validates requests, limits inputs, and forwards the content needed for the answer to OpenAI as a technical AI provider. The OpenAI API key is stored only on the server and is not embedded in the app.
Full prompts, selected Bible passages, and chat content are not stored permanently by the backend. Production logs are designed around technical metadata such as request ID, endpoint, duration, status code, and error code.
Purchases, Subscriptions, and Creator Codes
BibleRoute may use Apple in-app purchases or subscriptions. Payments are processed by Apple.
RevenueCat may be used to manage subscriptions, purchase status, entitlements, and purchase restoration. WinWinKit may be used for creator, invitation, promo, or affiliate code features.
Information You Should Not Send
Please do not send unnecessary sensitive personal information in prompts, notes, selected text, or chat messages. Bible and faith questions can be personal; share only what is needed for the specific feature.
Legal Bases
Depending on the feature and your region, processing may be based on contract performance, your consent, legitimate interests in operating the service securely, or legal obligations.
Recipients and Service Providers
Data may be processed by technical service providers that support operation of the service, especially Vercel for hosting, OpenAI for AI processing, RevenueCat for purchases and entitlements, WinWinKit for creator-code features, and Apple for the App Store, payments, and device-level privacy features.
International Transfers
Some service providers may process data outside your country of residence or outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are based on appropriate safeguards or other legally recognized mechanisms.
Retention
Personal data is processed only for as long as necessary for the described purposes, security, operation, billing, error analysis, or legal obligations. Third-party providers may apply their own retention periods.
Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, or withdrawal of consent.

BibleRoute is not an emergency, therapy, medical, legal, or pastoral care service. In immediate danger or crisis situations, contact local emergency services or trusted people nearby.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app, website, backend, providers, features, or legal requirements change.
